Nearly 50 jobs have been lost in Aberdeen after a local engineering firm entered administration.
The company, which specialised in providing engineering services to the energy sector, ceased trading after struggling with ongoing financial pressures. Administrators were appointed earlier this week, resulting in the immediate redundancy of 48 employees.
According to the administrators, the business had faced significant cashflow challenges in recent months, exacerbated by a downturn in new contracts and rising operational costs. Despite efforts to secure additional funding or a buyer for the business, no viable solution could be found.
A spokesperson for the administrators stated: “It is always regrettable when redundancies are made, and our immediate priority is to support the affected employees as they seek alternative employment.”
The closure is the latest blow to Aberdeen’s engineering and energy support sector, which has been under increasing strain due to market volatility and global economic uncertainty.
Local business leaders have called for further government support to help safeguard jobs and maintain the region’s reputation as a centre for engineering excellence.
