M&S Simply Food has received planning consent from Midlothian Council to relocate and gain a further 10,000 sq ft at its Straiton location.
Set to open in 2021, the store will relocate from its current location on the lower level of the retail park to a unit previously occupied by Fabb Sofas in the Loanhead-based park.
Leah Taylor, Peel L&P Retail Parks development manager, said: “In these uncertain times, we’re pleased to be moving forward with the new plans for this M&S Foodhall.
“Straiton Retail Park is continuing to benefit from our constant investment to improve and upgrade the park for customers.”
Scott Munro, M&S head of region, said: “Shopping habits are changing, so we’re reshaping our store estate to make sure it’s fit for the future, meeting the needs of customers today and those of tomorrow.
“The new store will be completed this Winter and we will keep the community updated as the works progress.”
