Scottish Conservative politicians have signed the ‘Trailer of Truth’ calling on Keir Starmer to finally axe Labour’s family farm tax at his upcoming party conference.

During his speech at the Farmers to Action (FTA) event near Inverurie, Shadow Scottish Secretary Andrew Bowie MP warned Keir Starmer will wipe out a generation of farmers and push food prices to record highs if he doesn’t scrap the inheritance tax changes.

The West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine MP said the ‘Trailer of Truth’ event marked a “powerful display of solidarity” against the Labour UK Government’s tax hike.

Mr Bowie, along with Scottish Conservative colleagues Harriet Cross MP, and MSPs Alexander Burnett, Douglas Lumsden, Douglas Ross, Liam Kerr, and Tim Eagle, all had a message on the side of the trailer as it embarked on a journey to Liverpool for the Labour Party Conference.

The campaign will culminate in a mass rally outside Labour’s conference on Sunday, September 28.

Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland, Andrew Bowie MP, said: “The Trailer of Truth is more than just a campaign. It marks a powerful display of solidarity against Labour’s despicable family farm tax that will wipe out a generation of farmers and push food prices to record highs.

“I spoke to dozens of farmers at the event, who all spoke of their daily torment of continual worry over what the future holds for both them and their families.

“Yet despite the growing anxiety within the industry, Keir Starmer continues to treat farmers – the very people at the heart of our national security – like second-class citizens.

“Farming is not just a job; it is a way of life and a deeply rooted tradition across Scotland where they do this hard work as their parents did before them.

“At their party conference, Labour will rightly face the wrath of an industry which is at breaking point.

“This, and the Trailer of Truth campaign, must finally sound the alarm bell for Keir Starmer to ditch his family farm tax to safeguard our food security before it’s too late.”
