Merry-go-round, Glasgow’s treasured charity and second hand specialists, is celebrating its 13th birthday with an exciting new service—Roundabout, a sustainable travel rental service for baby and toddler travel equipment.

Roundabout is designed to make family travel easier and more eco-friendly by offering high-quality, baby and children’s equipment for short-term rental when travelling in, or out of Glasgow. It will offer prams, travel cots and highchairs so families can now access what they need without the cost and waste of buying new. The service, with its own online booking service, will allow families to book top brands for collection or delivery. Whether it’s a travel cot for a weekend sleepover, or a foldable buggy for a sunny easter adventure, Roundabout has you covered.

“We know travelling with children can be both a whirlwind and costly,” says Rajkiran, Development Manager of Roundabout , “but it doesn’t have to mean buying items that only get used a handful of times. Roundabout helps families travel lighter while reducing waste—a win for parents and the planet.”

This new service aligns with Merry-go-round’s mission to drive behavioural change towards a more sustainable, circular approach to parenting. By renting rather than buying, families can cut down on unnecessary consumption and keep baby items in use for longer.

Since opening in 2012, Merry-go-round has championed reuse, making quality baby essentials accessible to all families while tackling the environmental impact of raising children. Thirteen years on, having rehomed almost 500,000 items and now with the launch of Roundabout, the charity continues to lead the way in practical, sustainable solutions for parents.

To mark this milestone, Merry-go-round is hosting a launch party and birthday celebration on 13th April at their shop in Strathbungo. Families, supporters, and the local community are invited to join in the fun, learn more about Roundabout, take the rental products for a spin, and celebrate 13 years of making parenting more sustainable.

Sam Moir, Merry-go-round’s founder, added: “Glasgow families have really embraced a more sustainable culture with more and more families each year choosing reused over new. Travel rental has been in our plans since I used a similar service when travelling with my 6 month old many years ago. It was a lifesaver to be met at the other end of a long flight with everything we needed but didn’t have to carry! After winning both the Scottish AND the UK environmental social enterprise of the year awards last year, we knew it was time to launch Roundabout and add rental to our list of services.”

Join the celebration at Merry-go-round shop, 32 Nithsdale Rd. G41 2AN, and learn more about Roundabout at www.roundaboutglasgow.co.uk
