CYCLISTS from an Edinburgh law firm clocked up almost 1,000 miles as they hit the road to help disadvantaged children.

A 16-strong team from Lindsays took part in the annual Tour de Forth sportive, raising money for the Cash for Kids charity.

And, with just over £1,100 already pledged for the cause, the legal professionals are hoping to continue to make every mile count, with donations open until the end of the month.

Lindsays has supported Tour de Forth as a partner – as well as with teams entering and raising funds – since 2017.

Peter Tweedie, the firm’s Chairman, cheered his colleagues on as they took on high winds and showers to make it around the various courses on Sunday (June 12).

He said: “Our riders did fantastically well in what it’s fair to say were far from perfect conditions for cycling. Any mischievous suggestions that any of them are fair-weather cyclists have been put to bed. There’s always a little quiet competition among colleagues taking part, so there were some pretty impressive times too.”

“It was a lot of fun for everyone who took part, but it’s all in aid of a serious cause.”

“The work that Cash for Kids does to make a difference to young lives is remarkable. We are proud to have supported that for a number of years now and delighted to have been able to play our part in the Tour de Forth once again.”

Tour de Forth saw participants take part in one of two routes around the River Forth – the 68-mile Classic, via the Forth Road and Kincardine Bridges, and the 35-mile Nouveau through Hopetoun to Threemiletown and back to the event HQ at RBS Gogarburn.

This year’s event has already raised more than £16,000 with money still coming in.

The Lindsays team was made up of Alan Smith, Alasdair Soutar, Alastair Smith, Andrew Duff, Andrew Milne, Andrew Ritchie, Carole Tweedie, Chris Todd, David Walker, Gregor MacEwan, Heather Ballantyne, Ian Mitchell, Karen Slaughter, Leslie Ross, Lynsey Kerr, Morva McKenzie.
