Since 2021, Jamie Aarons has been planning the adventure of a lifetime.
Having spent much of her life in the outdoors competing as an ultra endurance athlete she set her sights on a once in a lifetime challenge.
Bagging Munros has become a common pastime for many outdoor enthusiasts in Scotland but Jamie wanted to take on the world record for summiting them all in one go under her own steam. This meant walking, running, cycling and kayaking across all 282 Munros over Scotland as fast as she could.
“A Month in the Mountains” is a landmark documentary that follows Jamie on her journey and tells the story of the community that supported Jamie through every step of the challenge.

The film was directed by Edinburgh filmmaker Heather McManus who is extremely passionate about the outdoors and endurance athletics. “I’m so happy that Jamie trusted me to tell this story, and to show off not only her amazing feat but to show the amazing community that came together to help her achieve this dream” said Heather upon finishing the film.
Jamie embarked on this challenge to fundraise for World Bicycle Relief, which empowers people and communities through life-changing bicycles and now is taking the film on tour to raise awareness and funds to help this very much needed cause.
Heather is a young but accomplished filmmaker who won the Edinburgh 48 Hour Film Project last year. This screening is presented as part of Edinburgh Shorts Showcase, a short film night run by the 48 Hour Film Project.
“A Month in the Mountains” makes its Edinburgh premiere at the Cameo Cinema on Thu 1 May at 8pm, with a Q&A with Jamie and Heather. Tickets are available here: https://www.picturehouses.com/movie-details/000/HO00012803/edinburgh-shorts-showcase
