Kyloe Partners, the Orkney-founded recruitment technology company, has appointed Stephen Shorter as its new Chief Financial Officer as it prepares for its next phase of growth.

Shorter joined the business on 1 July and will work closely with founder and CEO Raymond Pennie to support the company’s strategic expansion across its global markets.

He brings more than a decade of experience from Cobalt Recruitment, an award-winning international recruiter specialising in finance, property and construction. During his 12-year tenure, Shorter served as Chief Financial Officer before progressing to Chief Executive Officer, gaining extensive leadership experience across both finance and operations.

A well-known figure within the recruitment sector, Shorter has also served on the Representative Committee of APSCo, the trade body for the UK professional staffing industry.

Welcoming the appointment, Raymond Pennie said: “Stephen understands our sector inside out, and he understands the pace at which we need to move. As we grow, having someone who has led finance and operations in a business like ours, who already knows Kyloe well and who understands the challenges our clients face makes a real difference. I’m delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Shorter added: “Kyloe was the only place I wanted to go after Cobalt. I believe in Raymond and the team’s ability to make sense of the technological change sweeping recruitment right now, and there’s something special about helping an ambitious, Orkney-based tech business thrive on the global stage.”

Founded in Orkney, Kyloe Partners continues to expand its team locally while strengthening its presence across the UK, US and APAC. The appointment forms part of a broader development of the company’s finance function, with Simone Pennie stepping into a new role as Executive Director and Company Secretary.
