Leading UK accountancy and business advisory firm Johnston Carmichael has expanded its operations in Dundee with a new office to support plans to double its city workforce to 100.

The firm has doubled its office footprint, moving to a new 5500sq ft regional hub in the DundeeOne business centre in the heart of the city following continued growth.

This is the second time the firm has moved as headcount has risen substantially from three when the firm opened its office in the city in 2019 to a total of 50 employees.

Jenn Stewart, Dundee Office Head and Partner, said the move will support the firm’s ambitions to have more than 100 people based locally by 2030. It is also enabling the firm to increase its community engagement through initiatives ranging from the Dundee Kiltwalk to delivering financial education lessons in local schools.

She said: “The growth of the team meant we were bursting at the seams in our previous office, so we’re extremely pleased to move to a new, larger space.

“Our teams absolutely love the new space, and it’s created a culture of collaboration where they really want to come into the office. We also believe it will support the attraction of more talent to the firm in the years ahead.

“I continue to be excited, enthusiastic and optimistic about the growth of our team here in Dundee. We’ve developed into a full-service office and our aim continues to be having a team of up to 100 people working here within the next five years.”

Recent additions include the office’s second audit appointment – audit manager Finlay Maclean – who arrives from a Big Four firm and joins recent hire audit assistant manager Uthman Ahmed in the team. VAT manager Allan Easton has also joined the company, which is now one of the biggest accountancy and business advisory firms in Tayside.

The additional space has further allowed the 25 members of its team in Forfar to split their time between both offices.

The original three members of the company’s Dundee office all remain at the firm, with Jenn’s colleagues Andrew McMillan and Ryan Milne promoted to roles of tax partner and business advisory director respectively during their time in the city.

Jenn added: “It’s been great to welcome new mem
