JOBS have been safeguarded after a “substantial part” of the business and assets of high street wine retailer Oddbins was sold out of administration.

Philip Duffy and Matthew Ingram, both of Duff & Phelps, were first appointed to Walsall-headquartered Wine Cellar Trading Ltd, Whittalls Wines Merchants 1 Ltd, Whittalls Wines Merchants 2 Ltd and EFB Retail Ltd in February 2019.

The companies trade under various brands including Oddbins, Oddies, Simply Drinks, Simply Food & Drinks, Shop2Go and Booze Buster.

The name of the buyer and the exact number of jobs which have been saved have not been revealed.

A spokesperson for Duff & Phelps said: “The sale was achieved despite the current financial situation and secured the jobs of people employed in 28 stores.”
