Jeanette Forbes, CEO of PCL Group and Proprietor of Grape & Grain, has been named Business Woman of the Year 2019 at the annual Scottish SME Business Awards.

The awards provide a platform to shine the spotlight on businesses and individuals that have made a positive difference in the market they operate in, and have enjoyed growth in, as a result.

Jeanette was one of six prominent businesswomen, representing a variety of sectors across Scotland, who were shortlisted for the award.

She said: “It was a total surprise to win this award with so many strong contenders shortlisted.  SMEs play a huge and very vital role in employing people and continuing to grow Scotland’s economy. It is good to see an awards ceremony such as this recognise the contribution they make.”

Jeanette started her first company PCL Group, a total IT and cabling company for the offshore, marine, commercial, industrial and renewables sectors, in March 2000 after being made redundant during an oil and gas downturn. In 2017, she diversified her business interests and opened Grape & Grain, a high-end wine bar on Aberdeen’s Thistle Street.

Over the years she has won many awards and industry accolades which recognise her role as a business leader and entrepreneur, along with her commitment to encouraging and promoting career opportunities for women in the energy and technology sectors.
