James Ramsay, the Glasgow-based industrial and commercial heating and pipework specialist, has officially unveiled its new branding, marking the start of an exciting new chapter in its 100-year history – rooted in heritage but built for the future.

The business, which is set to report turnover of £16m for the latest financial year, an increase of 20% on the previous year and 40% across the last two years, is also expanding to its new 13,000 sq ft premises next week.

Gary Shepherd, Managing Director at James Ramsay said: “I’d like to thank all of our customers and workforce who we have grown with since 1920.  We’re passionate about keeping our clients operational without interruption, undertaking complex projects in commercial and industrial sectors with steam, gas and energy systems.  We are helping our customers drive performance and sustainability hand-in-hand, whilst reinforcing the values and craftsmanship that have defined

James Ramsay since our beginnings. As the energy landscape continues evolving, so do we, by supporting clients with expert engineering, practical solutions, and deep technical knowledge.

“Since 1920, we’ve remained true to what we’ve always done. Our skills, craft and precision are as relevant now as they were then. Our rebrand celebrates this unique story by drawing on the Bauhaus movement, which emerged at the same time as our founding. With a focus on functionality, simplicity and rationality, Bauhaus principles mirror our own – we unite craftsmanship with technical expertise – making complex projects seem simple and ensuring everything we do is robust, efficient and reliable.”

Launched to coincide with the company’s presence at the All-Energy 2025 exhibition in Glasgow this week, James Ramsay partnered with Glasgow-based branding specialist, Tangent, to develop its brand.

In 2013, Nevis Capital LLP backed a buy-out of the James Ramsay business, which at the time, employed 24 staff with a £2m turnover. Through an ambitious strategy for growth, including significant investment in people, infrastructure and systems, the business has experienced significant growth throughout the last decade, as evidenced in the latest results. The business has also increased its headcount to nearly 100 skilled staff.

Ian Buchan, Partner at Nevis, said: “We are delighted to have been involved with James Ramsay throughout the last twelve years where our values and long-term approach to ownership align with the ethos of the management and the business.

“This is an exciting milestone for the business, and we look forward to continuing to support Gary and the rest of the team through the next phase of growth and development.”
