Aviemore based holiday home agency Igloo joined industry leaders and delegates from across Europe and beyond in Valencia last week for a prestigious short-term rental conference.

Hosted by Spanish software company Avantio, the event brought together over 700 delegates from 26 countries, including key industry players such as Airbnb, Marriott, and Booking.com.

Igloo has partnered with Avantio since 2023, and this marked the company’s third visit to Valencia. Director Nick Lyon welcomed the opportunities the conference provided.

“Since we launched Igloo in 2020, our focus has always been on embracing the latest technology to enhance the experience for both guests and property owners. Since joining Avantio two years ago, we’ve doubled in size and continue to explore new partnerships and innovations.”

“The event in Valencia was fantastic. We gained insights into the latest trends in the short-term rental sector and made exciting new software and marketing connections that will help us expand our reach even further.”

Alongside the two-day conference, featuring keynote speeches, workshops, and software demonstrations – delegates experienced the best of Valencia’s hospitality, culture, and cuisine. A highlight of the event was an exclusive networking evening and glamorous cocktail dinner in the city’s Central Market, with food provided by a two-star Michelin chef.

Igloo Director Erin McBean reflected on the importance of events like these for showcasing Scotland and the Cairngorms on an international stage.

“The networking events allowed us to connect with short-term rental agencies from around the world, including Spain, Ireland, the United States, and even Mexico. It was fascinating to discuss shared challenges and opportunities.”

“Many delegates were aware of the regulatory challenges Scotland has faced in recent years, but this was a chance to share the other side of the story – Scotland and the Cairngorms have so much to offer visitors, and self-catering remains a fantastic option for travelers.”

“When it comes to legislation, we’re very proud of the work Igloo has done—not just to comply with new regulations, but to lead by example through innovative technology.”

Now back in Aviemore, Igloo’s directors are already implementing new software and marketing connections made during the conference, including a new partnership with a leading Spanish travel agency.

Nick Lyon added: “We had an incredible time in Valencia and packed so much into the conference. We’ve returned with plenty to work on, and we’re really excited for the year ahead – continuing to innovate and grow for the benefit of our property owners and guests.”
