An audacious trio from Holmes Mackillop Solicitors is all set to raise funds for The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice by going on the run under cover of darkness at the John Muir Way Nocturnal Ultra Marathon on Saturday 8 November 2025.

The challenge is ‘simple’: runners have six hours to complete as many loops of the 5km off-road route as possible.

The daring trio of Holmes Mackillop runners are directors Craig Donnelly and Ross Brown together with future trainee solicitor Sam Hamilton.

The mission of The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice is to provide high quality, person-centred care for all those affected by life-limiting conditions. It receives a percentage of its funding from the NHS, but depends mostly on voluntary donations, fundraising events and legacies to maintain its invaluable services for the people of Glasgow.

“The nocturnal ultra marathon is an event where participants run a well-marked 5k trail loop to see who can cover the most ground in six hours, all under cover of darkness,” said Donnelly.

“We’re already in training and quietly confident of our ability to each get four or five trail loops under our belt – particularly if Ross and myself can keep pace with Sam!”
