Higgs LLP has continued its strategic growth with the acquisition of family-owned firm McKenzie Law Solicitors, strengthening its position as a leading legal partner for owner-managed businesses and entrepreneurial families across the UK.

The latest deal follows Higgs’ acquisitions of Vialex Limited and Navigator Employment Law Limited earlier this year, marking another step in its ambition to broaden its multi-regional offering and deepen its service capabilities.

Founded and led by Niels and Vicki McKenzie, the Shrewsbury-based firm has built a strong reputation over nearly two decades, underpinned by a people-first ethos and a commitment to high-quality client service. These shared values were a key factor in the deal, with both firms aligned in their focus on long-term client relationships and tailored legal support.

With the addition of McKenzie Law, Higgs now operates from three locations, including Brierley Hill in the West Midlands and Edinburgh, offering clients enhanced access to expertise across a wider geographic footprint while retaining continuity with their existing legal teams.

Nick Taylor, CEO of Higgs LLP, said the acquisition was a natural fit for the firm’s strategy. “Acquiring McKenzie Law makes complete strategic sense for us – we are aligned on all our values and support our clients in the same way. Niels and Vicki have built a formidable reputation in Shrewsbury, and we are thrilled to be working with them. They have an excellent track record for client service, something which we have built our legacy on and will not compromise. Our wider multi-regional offering enables us to support owner-managers and their families with the full spectrum of legal services.”

For McKenzie Law, the move represents an opportunity to expand its service offering while maintaining its established client relationships and local roots.

Niels McKenzie said: “As a smaller, well-established firm, we know that we can’t stand still – we are very proud of our roots in Shrewsbury and of what we have built over the last 19 years with loyal colleagues and clients. Our clients know they can rely on us to support them, and that’s why so many have given us repeat business and referred others to us. Higgs has an unwavering reputation for the same level of client service, and our values are aligned so this partnership is a logical one for us.

“We have worked with some of the Higgs team over the years when our clients have required certain specialist services, like contentious probate, and we have every confidence in the team we’re joining. We are now able to offer the full range of business and personal legal services to our clients, and we are very excited for what the future holds. We appreciate all the positive feedback we’ve received so far about our alliance with Higgs.”

The acquisition reinforces Higgs LLP’s long-term growth strategy, with a continued focus on supporting business owners and their families through a comprehensive, relationship-led approach to legal services.
