LEADING UK food-on-the-go retailer Greggs has signed a new water supply and wastewater services contract with Edinburgh-based retailer, Business Stream.

The extension follows the three-year contract Greggs signed with the water retailer in 2018 to cover its nine UK manufacturing and distribution sites and over 1,300 shops.

Business Stream will continue to deliver its bespoke water management strategy for the company, designed to identify and deliver water efficiencies across Greggs’ UK estate.

Newcastle-based Greggs will also continue to benefit from consolidated billing and a dedicated account management service, which includes day-to-day support and 24/7 emergency assistance, when required.

Ally Stephenson, Head of Purchasing for Greggs, said: “Working with Business Stream over the past three years has helped us to gain financial savings and generate environmental efficiencies, as we’ve worked together to reduce our overall water use. We’re very happy to extend the current deal and look forward to continuing our partnership with Business Stream.”

Jo Dow, Chief Executive Officer at Business Stream, said: “We’re delighted that our partnership with Greggs has been extended. We are committed to working with all of our customers to help them use water efficiently, delivering financial and environmental benefits – and it’s fantastic to know that the work we’re doing with Greggs is making a positive difference.”

At the start of this year Business Stream secured a new water contract with Shell, one of the world’s largest oil and gas supermajors.

To date, Business Stream has helped its customers save more than £272 million in discounts and water and energy efficiencies. As passionate advocates of water efficiency, the retailer has also helped its customers save over 49 billion litres of water – the equivalent of nearly 20,000 Olympic-sized filled swimming pools.
