GoFibre converts new three-year sponsorship with North Berwick Rugby Club

North Berwick Rugby Football Club

SCOTTISH independent broadband provider, GoFibre, has today announced a three-year sponsorship of North Berwick Rugby Club with a focus on youth rugby development.

In addition to its ongoing sponsorship of Melrose Sevens, GoFibre has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to grassroots rugby in Scotland by assuming the role of Youth Rugby Section Primary Sponsor. With the sponsorship officially kicking off this month, GoFibre will support North Berwick Rugby Club by offering high-speed connectivity and fostering rugby development for both girls and boys within the North Berwick High School catchment area.

With GoFibre set to feature as the shirt sponsor on the club’s male U15, U16 and U18 match strips, the collaboration stands as an ideal union, underscoring a mutual dedication to nurturing community involvement and promoting sportsmanship, marking a significant milestone for both organisations.

GoFibre’s contribution will extend to North Berwick Rugby Club’s roster of activities, including the forthcoming Mini Rugby Festival – an event uniting over 800 players from East Lothian and beyond.

GoFibre is committed to tackling the digital divide across Scotland. Once connected to full fibre, residents and businesses have access to up to 10Gbps speeds, which significantly enhances their ability to work effectively from home, improves business productivity, and ensures households can use as many gadgets as they want to their hearts’ content.

Currently more than 15,000 local residents and businesses in North Berwick, Dunbar, Haddington and Prestonpans are already able to sign up and instantly benefit from GoFibre’s future-proof digital connectivity.

Neil Conaghan, Chief Executive Officer at GoFibre, said: “It is a real honour to continue to support grassroots rugby in Scotland through this new sponsorship of North Berwick Rugby Club. We recognise that these groups face significant challenges during what are tough economic times and so we are keen to play our part in supporting the club to build sustainable futures as central pillars of the community.

“By combining the rollout of cutting-edge full fibre broadband connectivity with support for local communities through sports like rugby, we are able to advance the growth and capabilities of local clubs, homes and businesses. We’re very much looking forward to seeing the club thrive as the season starts.’

Ken Muir, Rugby Director at North Berwick Rugby Club, added: “North Berwick Rugby is delighted to connect with GoFibre as lead sponsor of our youth rugby section. Their investment in the future within our community matches the club’s aspiration to deliver high speed and modern rugby teams from age 12 to 18.

“The new strips endorse our aspiration to be the best we can, whilst the further investment from GoFibre in future years will allow us to focus on the rugby development for girls and boys in the North Berwick High School catchment.”

As part of its ongoing commitment to tackle the digital divide across Scotland, last month, GoFibre launched a £50,000 fund to aid charitable and community projects in three Scottish build regions including East Lothian.

With up to £3,000 available for each recipient, the GoFurther Fund will provide grants to those who meet the relevant criteria, including supporting the creation of work experience opportunities, developing skills and the local economy, promoting good health and wellbeing or actively tackling climate change and contributing to net zero targets in their local areas.
