Go Forth Stirling BID is looking for new Board members who are keen to help shape the organisation’s future.

The BID (Business Improvement District) involves business owners working together collectively to improve Stirling city centre for the benefit of those who live, work and visit the area.

The organisation is seeking new members to strengthen the Board, ensure a diversity of skills and expand representation across business sectors in Stirling in advance of the next re-ballot which takes place in July 2027.

Go Forth Stirling’s Project Director Danielle McRorie-Smith wants to hear from potential board members, particularly those who run city centre businesses, who are keen to provide strategic direction, vision and support.

Go Forth Project Director Danielle McRorie-Smith said: We’re looking for dynamic and enthusiastic people with vision and ideas who are ready to commit their time and energy to collaborating with us and who will help Stirling prosper.

“Finding enthusiastic people with different skillsets and experience is essential as we seek fresh ideas and new impetus while moving towards re-ballot and creating a new five-year plan for 2027 onwards.”

The Go Forth Stirling Board is chaired by David Black who works at the University of Stirling and also chairs the Stirling City Heritage Trust.

It is made up of Stirling business owners, who are levy paying BID members, plus representatives from local and national organisations which partner with the BID.

It includes vice-chairs Kevin Moore, of Stirling Arcade, and Gary Turnbull who represents The Thistles.

Further Board members are Andrew Mitchell, who represents local pub Slanj-A-Va; Jordan Henderson, of House of Henderson,; Meddy Ezrah Ortega, of Portfolio Films, and Neil Munday who runs WorKing Flexispaces and King Street Aparthotel.

Meanwhile, Audrey Burns represents Historic Environment Scotland and Fiona Buchanan is the Stirling Council Board member. The Board also has an advisor – Simon Orr, a manager at Stirling-based business support organisation STEP.

Neil Munday has been an active member of the BID board since joining a year ago. He is encouraging fellow business owners to get involved in supporting the business community and help make a positive difference to Stirling city centre.

He said: “I’m passionate about the city centre and how all our businesses can benefit by promoting and improving Stirling through the BID and that’s why I wanted to be part of something that would make a difference.

“I’ve enjoyed taking an active role in supporting the Board and Danielle and helping reshape and reinvent the organisation for the future.

“It’s very rewarding to get involved and we need more people who are willing to give something back to the community and ensure we have an integrated approach where we are all working together to optimise the city centre.”

Ms McRorie-Smith added: “This is an exciting time to join the Board of Go Forth Stirling as we plan for a third term beginning in mid-2027.

“We’ve had a successful second term so far fulfilling our promises with a host of services and initiatives and look forward to consulting our business community on what they want us to deliver during our third term.

“Joining the Board is a great opportunity for business owners with a passion for Stirling and a commitment to improving our city centre to get involved and help shape the future of our city.”

The Board is made up of a maximum of 12 members drawn from businesses representing a cross section of sectors within the BID area.

Anyone interested in finding out more about joining the Board should email [email protected] to find out more and/or put themselves forward.

Go Forth Stirling represents around 600 business owners with a key objective of increasing visitors to the city and devising initiatives to help make it a more welcoming destination for businesses and shoppers.
