The heart of the Glass community has been given a new lease of life following the official opening of the newly refurbished Glass Community Hall, made possible thanks to significant funding from the Vattenfall Clashindarroch Wind Farm Community Fund and other funders.
The Glass Hall project is one of the featured recipients in Vattenfall’s “10 Years in 10 Stories” community campaign, launched this year to celebrate a decade of investment in local communities surrounding the Clashindarroch Wind Farm. The Glass Community Association received over £350,000 of funding from the Vattenfall Clashindarroch Wind Farm Community Fund.
Local residents gathered to celebrate the grand reopening of the much-loved hall with a joyful afternoon of family fun and food. The event featured a bouncy castle and football kick-about on the newly created green space for children, and a generous spread of homemade bakes, savoury treats and afternoon tea, all lovingly prepared and donated by members of the local community.
The refurbished hall now offers a more modern, accessible and welcoming venue for events, meetings and celebrations, benefiting the entire village for years to come. The transformation was made possible thanks to vital financial support from funders, including the Vattenfall Clashindarroch Community Fund, which supports projects that deliver long-term benefits to communities surrounding the wind farm.

Rachael Ashley, Fundraiser and Trustee of the Glass Community Association, says: “This project has been a true labour of love, and we are thrilled to finally open the doors of our newly refurbished hall. The support from the Vattenfall Clashindarroch Community Fund has been instrumental in bringing this dream to life. This hall means so much to our community — it’s a place where people connect, celebrate, and support one another. We’re especially touched by the amazing response from our neighbours who attended and contributed such a delicious array of food to help us mark the occasion.”
Kerry Birse, Vattenfall’s Local Liaison Officer, added, “We’re delighted to support the refurbishment of Glass Community Hall through our Clashindarroch Wind Farm Community Fund. Vattenfall is committed to creating positive, long-term benefits for local communities, and projects like this really show the value of local energy investment. It’s fantastic to see the hall back in use and ready to serve as a hub for the village.”
