The OVO Hydro is set to become Scotland’s ultimate World Cup hub this summer, unveiling a series of ticket incentives aimed at making its “Our Moment” fan zone more accessible to families, groups and designated drivers.
In a move designed to widen access to Scotland’s long-awaited return to the Fifa World Cup™, the Glasgow venue has confirmed that designated drivers will receive free entry along with complimentary parking, when attending with a minimum of three paying guests. The initiative mirrors schemes widely used at major sporting events in the United States.
Alongside this, the Hydro has introduced a chaperone offer allowing one free adult ticket for those accompanying standard-priced children’s tickets, helping younger fans experience their first major tournament atmosphere.
The fan zone will screen all three of Scotland’s group stage matches against Haiti, Morocco and Brazil on what organisers describe as the largest screens in Scotland, measuring 20 metres wide. The venue will also host pre-match entertainment, positioning itself as a “home from home” for supporters unable to travel to the tournament.
Debbie McWilliams, Chief Commercial Officer at SEC, said the initiative reflects a broader commitment to inclusivity and shared experiences.
“The OVO Hydro is committed to making major cultural moments accessible to everyone, especially young fans who want to experience this once in a generation experience,” she said.
“Offering free entry and parking for designated drivers is another game-changer and perfect for groups who are travelling from outside and around the Glasgow area. It’s a simple way to reward those who won’t be drinking at the events and are driving people to and from the event.”
A range of additional group and family ticket packages has also been introduced to cater to different audiences. These include corporate packages, discounted group bookings and family bundles, all aimed at encouraging collective attendance.
Among the offers available are a corporate table package priced at £499 for 12 people, group deals starting at £22.50 per person with free tickets included at higher volumes, and a family ticket priced at £89 for two adults and two children. Children’s tickets are priced at £19.50, with accompanying chaperones eligible to attend free of charge.
Organisers have advised that availability for the chaperone offer is limited, encouraging early booking for those planning to attend in family groups.
The Hydro’s fan zone arrives as anticipation builds for Scotland’s first World Cup appearance since 1998, with the venue expected to draw large crowds seeking a shared matchday atmosphere closer to home.
