GLASGOW-based travel company Macs Adventure, an industry leader in self-guided walking and cycling holidays, celebrates 20 years, marking a significant milestone in the company’s journey.
Over 35,000 avid “adventurers” did a trip with Macs in 2023. The company’s expansion, in terms of workforce, global reach and recent technology advancements via their navigation app, has positioned Macs Adventure as a key frontrunner in the industry.
Macs has just experienced an exciting period of growth, increasing its total workforce by 40% in one year. The company now has just under 200 employees globally with over 35 nationalities represented.
In less than 12 months since launching its US headquarters in Denver, Colorado, Macs Adventure has witnessed a particular surge in its US-based operations. The company’s US team has grown by 218 percent, leaping from 11 to 37 employees in less than 12 months.
This achievement is complemented by the company’s already expansive teams in Glasgow and Saarbrücken in Germany, which contribute to Macs Adventure’s sizeable global reach.
The company is poised for sustained growth, with plans to expand its teams worldwide.
Neil Lapping, CEO and founder at Macs Adventure said:
“What an amazing journey it’s been. Two decades of exploration, forging new pathways, and embracing innovation. These 20 years have seen us expand our trip offerings and embrace cutting-edge technology, all while creating unforgettable experiences for customers.
Our unwavering dedication to prioritising customer experience has been the cornerstone of our success. Each year, the demand for self-guided walking and cycling holidays continues to rise, reflecting a growing desire for outdoor activities like never before.
I can’t wait to see where the next 20 years takes us as we continue to grow our business and community of active and passionate adventurers.”
Earlier this year the company also announced an initiative with two of its most popular UK walking routes – The West Highland Way and the South West Coast Path. Recognising the importance of maintaining these pathways for the thousands of walkers and generations to come, Macs donate £5 for every customer who travels along these routes, as well as actively getting involved in the path restoration itself through staff volunteer days.
20th Year Celebrations were held at the Crieff Hydro earlier this month with Macs Adventure’s Global Ambassador, bestselling author, and social media influencer Coinneach MacLeod, “The Hebridean Baker” also in attendance.
