Glasgow Fort has reported a record number of visitors in 2025, with more shoppers visiting the centre across the year than ever before.

Supported by a range of exciting new store openings and a wide variety of events designed to suit the whole family, the centre saw an 8% increase in footfall compared to 2024.

It also revealed that retailers across the centre saw strong sales figures, with multi-retail, health & beauty and jewellery outlets performing particularly well throughout the year.

The centre’s busiest day of the year was Tuesday 23 December, which also marks the busiest day on record since Glasgow Fort opened. This was driven by last minute Christmas shopping and outings with friends and family, alongside the centre staying open until midnight to give visitors more time to get what they need.

2025 saw the opening of Superdrug’s newly designed store and a huge expansion of River Island at Glasgow Fort, strengthening the centre’s fashion and health and beauty offering. Meanwhile, shoppers enjoyed more choice when it came to food and drink, with the opening of independent Mexican restaurant, Mezcal.

Visitor numbers also continued to climb following the opening of several exciting new stores in 2024, including Primark, Victoria’s Secret and Adidas, which consistently drew significant crowds.

A jam-packed festive season contributed to the bumper year, with the return of the popular Christmas markets alongside opportunities to meet characters inspired by family favourite film, Home Alone.

The centre also hosted several community-focused events over the last 12 months, including a jobs fair in partnership with Easterhouse-based charity FARE Scotland – with over 100 positions on offer to help young people in the area into employment.

This is in addition to a campaign launched in December to tackle loneliness and isolation over the festive period. The campaign promoted the vital work of local charities YoMo and The Daffodil Club and launched a ‘Merry Mailbox’ to give visitors the chance to share Christmas messages with those more likely to feel lonely during the festive season.

Phil Goodman, centre director at Glasgow Fort, said: “2025 was a real milestone year for us at Glasgow Fort. We’ve welcomed more visitors than ever before, opened some fantastic new places to shop and eat and delivered a busy programme of events – all of which have proven incredibly popular with our shoppers. Our focus has been on providing new and exciting experiences to make Glasgow Fort the perfect place for a day out.

“Alongside this mission, supporting our local community has stayed at the heart of everything we do, and we’re proud of the strong relationships we have with many community groups and charities. In 2026, we remain committed to building on these further and doing even more to support those who need it most.”
