Glasgow Airport has welcomed the return of direct flights to Cork, re-establishing a vital connection between Scotland’s largest city and the Munster region after nearly five years. Operated by Aer Lingus Regional through Emerald Airlines, the service uses an ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft.
The flights, which began on Sunday, operate year-round four times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. This new route adds 30,000 extra seats to Cork Airport’s winter schedule and is the sole service linking Glasgow with Munster and southern Ireland.
Previously operated until 2021, the route was cancelled when Stobart Air ended its contract with Aer Lingus. Ian Lough, Head of Commercial at Emerald Airlines, expressed enthusiasm about expanding their network from Cork Airport: “We are delighted to be expanding our network from Cork Airport with the introduction of our new Glasgow service. These enhancements underscore our commitment to providing our customers with more travel options and greater convenience.”
