Glasgow Airport has welcomed the launch of a new direct service to Zurich, with Swiss leisure carrier Edelweiss now operating twice-weekly flights between Scotland and Switzerland’s largest city.
The seasonal route, which runs every Monday and Friday from 29 May to 14 September 2026, gives Scottish travellers direct access to Zurich’s lakeside setting, cultural attractions and nearby Alpine resorts, while also opening up convenient onward connections across the wider Swiss and European network.
In Case You Missed It:
Zurich is regarded as one of Europe’s key financial and business hubs, meaning the new link is expected to appeal to both leisure and corporate passengers looking for faster, more direct travel options. Glasgow Airport, which is owned and operated by AGS Airports Limited, already serves around 100 destinations worldwide and sees the Edelweiss service as a further strengthening of its European connectivity.
Christopher Tibbett, Aviation Director at AGS Airports, said the new Zurich operation was a welcome addition to the airport’s 2026 schedule. Edelweiss will operate the route across the peak summer period, positioning the service to capture weekend city breakers, family holidays and inbound visitors from Switzerland heading to Glasgow and the west of Scotland.
The Zurich announcement comes as Glasgow continues to build out its international route network following the pandemic, with transatlantic and European links seen as important drivers of tourism, trade and inward investment. High Growth Scotland has taken a closer look at how the Edelweiss route fits into Glasgow Airport’s wider growth ambitions in a recent feature, which can be read here: https://highgrowth.scot/glasgow-airport-opens-new-swiss-gateway-as-edelweiss-zurich-link-underlines-international-growth-push/
