GILSON Gray, the full-service legal firm, has signalled its commitment to the Tayside region with the opening of a new central office at 2 West Marketgait, Dundee.

The move will bring together multiple teams across 4,500 sq. ft. of office space in one of the city’s most iconic business locations, close to the waterfront V&A museum, railway station and Overgate Shopping Centre.

The deal follows a period of rapid growth for Gilson Gray in the city, including the acquisition of Baillie Shepherd in October 2021. The firm said that the new office represents a ‘massive statement of intent’, with its teams keen to maximise further opportunities for development and expansion in Dundee and Angus, including potential new acquisitions.

In the two years since it first arrived in the City of Discovery, Gilson Gray has grown its headcount and built up a significant client base, reflecting the full range of specialisms offered by the firm. It also kicked off its expansion into England last year, with the acquisition of Lincoln-based Home Property Lawyers (HPL).

Lindsay Darroch, partner and head of Gilson Gray’s Dundee office, said: “Our investment in a new state-of-the-art office follows a period of immense growth for the firm in Dundee and will further place the Gilson Gray name at the heart of the local community – we are very excited about the future of the city. The speed of our expansion in the city so far has exceeded expectations and our new base will accommodate a growing team from a location that will never date.

“The move will bring all of our Dundee teams together for the first time, and we expect clients will notice the impact as they benefit from the full range of services we can provide under the same roof. We hope to continue to build on the momentum seen over the past two years, with our new central location underpinning our position in the Dundee market.

“Dundee has been through significant transformation in recent years and continues to change. The city is an exciting place to be, with initiatives such as the Eden Project creating jobs and generating measurable economic impact. There is a real buzz about Dundee and the wider region, and we are well placed to support clients and businesses with the opportunities that brings.”

Glen Gilson, chair and managing partner of Gilson Gray, added: “We are delighted to have developed such a strong presence in the Dundee market. We intend to grow further rapidly in the region and would invite interested clients and indeed legal talent to get in touch.”
