Law firm Gilson Gray has announced a significant expansion of its presence in Tayside with the acquisition of Perth-based legal practice Wyllie & Henderson. The deal, which officially took effect on 18 May, marks Gilson Gray’s inaugural office in Perth, further strengthening its regional footprint.

Wyllie & Henderson brings with it a heritage spanning more than a century, having been established in Perth in 1903. The firm has cultivated a strong reputation in the local market, particularly for its expertise in residential and commercial property, wills, powers of attorney, and executries.

Following the acquisition, Wyllie & Henderson’s two consultants, Ian Lindsay and Angela Scott, have integrated into Gilson Gray, alongside all eight additional employees from the Perth firm, ensuring continuity for clients.

This strategic acquisition aligns with Gilson Gray’s ongoing growth strategy across the UK legal market, which has seen the firm expand significantly since its founding in 2014, including previous acquisitions in Dundee, Edinburgh, Lincoln, and London.

Lindsay Darroch, Partner and Head of Gilson Gray’s Dundee office, commented on the significance of the integration, stating: “Welcoming Ian, Angela and the Wyllie & Henderson team to Gilson Gray is a significant step for us, and I’ve long respected their reputation and the strength of their relationships in the Perth market. As we continue to build our presence across Tayside, their client-focused approach fits naturally with how we work, and together we can deliver an even stronger full-service offering. At a time when many firms are scaling back, it’s exciting that we are continuing to invest and grow, giving clients greater access to expertise and support.”

The establishment of a Perth office provides Gilson Gray with a stronger foothold in this key regional market, complementing its existing support for private and business clients in the area. To further bolster the new Perth operation, Legal Director Sandra Teall has permanently relocated from Gilson Gray’s Dundee office.

Ian Lindsay, Consultant at Wyllie & Henderson, expressed optimism about the future under Gilson Gray: “Joining Gilson Gray is an important step for our team and our clients, giving us access to a broader range of services while maintaining the relationships they value. We’re looking forward to playing our part in its continued growth.”
