Musselburgh-based sustainable energy specialist Gensource is set to make its debut at this year’s Royal Highland Show, marking a significant milestone for the growing business.

Scotland’s flagship celebration of food, farming and rural life returns to Ingliston, Edinburgh, from Thursday through to Sunday, drawing thousands of visitors from across the country and beyond.

Gensource will use the event to showcase its range of renewable energy and EV charging solutions, with a particular focus on systems designed for rural and commercial environments. Throughout the four-day show, members of the team will be on hand to offer both technical and commercial guidance to attendees.

Visitors to the stand will be able to access early-stage advice on project feasibility across solar, battery storage and EV charging installations. The team will also provide insight into funding opportunities and support mechanisms, including the Rural and Islands Infrastructure Fund, which supports the rollout of public EV charging networks.

A key theme of Gensource’s presence at the show will be the role of energy infrastructure in supporting diversification within rural businesses, particularly in areas such as agri-tourism.

Robert Wilson, co-founder and commercial director at Gensource, said: “We are very much looking forward to exhibiting at the Royal Highland Show for the first time. We have attended smaller agricultural shows in Fife and East Lothian but this is a major fixture on the rural event calendar in Scotland and we are excited to be part of it.

“We will have engineers and delivery specialists on hand along with team members with experience working on rural and estate-based projects.

“It will be great to engage directly with landowners, estates and businesses to explore how on-site energy generation and infrastructure can help reduce costs, improve sustainability and future-proof operations.

“It is going to be an opportunity to provide direct, face-to-face advice to businesses that may not otherwise engage with the sector and will help us raise awareness of practical, commercially viable energy solutions.”

The company continues to build momentum, having recently been shortlisted for SME of the Year at the Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce Business Awards. In addition, it expanded its residential offering last month through the acquisition of Perth-based Solar Kingdom.
