Collaboration to tackle climate and environmental goals and create more high value jobs should be at the forefront of our minds as the UK accelerates towards its homegrown energy transition.

That will be the key message from Offshore Energies UK chief executive David Whitehouse in his presentation to the major gathering of specialists attending this year’s OEUK Health Safety and Environment conference in Aberdeen’s P&J Live centre this Thursday 8th February

Highlights of the event will include a focus on preserving and enhancing marine environment with artificial carbon-absorbing reefs round North Sea energy installations.

Zero Waste Scotland will present its proposals for circular economy materials management facilities to recycle materials from decommissioned oil and gas platforms or wind turbines, and provide skills, employment, and business opportunities.

Aberdeen Football Club will also showcase the features of its new net zero stadium, giving energy industry delegates a demonstration of how large-scale engineering projects in other sectors are embracing the net zero message.

Other presentations will look at lessons on stress management learned from reality TV shows, new regulatory challenges confronting the energy industry and the use of innovative technologies to process data and predict health and safety flashpoints.

‘Climate goals, the cost of living and jobs are at the front of all our minds as we work towards the homegrown energy transition and net zero,’ said Mark Wilson HSE and operations director at Offshore Energies who is leading the conference programme.

‘This is the biggest and most wide ranging HSE event our organisation has ever held. The learning being passed on will be game changing. We are confident everyone will go away with new knowledge to benefit not only their organisations but also themselves as people.’

The event is being staged thanks to the principal sponsorship of TotalEnergies with supporting sponsorship from CNOOC and Harbour Energy
