The first winners of the 46th annual Scottish Press Awards have been unveiled at a ceremony at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Glasgow Central, tonight (22 May 2025).

The team at The Times Scotland have had a successful start to the night, scooping three prizes so far with Greig Cameron crowned Financial/Business Journalist of the Year, Kieran Andrews named Political Journalist of the Year, Michael Grant named Sports Columnist of the Year for the second time in a row, and Chitra Ramaswamy retained the title of Food and Drink Writer of the Year for a third year.

Sian Maher of The Scottish Sun was awarded Young Journalist of the Year, Kenny Farquharson from The Jaggy Thistle was named Arts and Entertainment Journalist of the Year and Sean Wallace from The Press and Journal lifted the award for Sports Journalist of the Year.

The final award of this first set, Columnist of the Year, was picked up by Dani Garavelli from The Herald who was also named Interviewer of the Year earlier in the evening.

Chair of Judges, Richard Neville, former Head of News Brands at DC Thomson and current Director of Neville Robertson Communications, said: “Year after year we, as judges, never cease to be amazed by the quality of entries to the awards and this year’s winners prove that story getting and storytelling in Scotland are thriving.”
