THE Fife Tech Consortium, a group of Fife-based technology companies with the aim of building opportunities and encouraging careers in the sector, has appointed a new Chair.
Jim Tomaney, Chief Operating Officer at payment solutions company, Renovite Technologies in Dunfermline, will head up the technology-focussed group. He brings a wealth of experience, having been a founding member of Fife Tech, and will lead the Consortium’s strategic direction in a post-lockdown environment.
Jim Tomaney, Chair of Fife Tech Consortium, said:
“Now more than ever, as we emerge out of one of the most challenging times for businesses, the Consortium has an important role to play in bringing together local technology companies on common areas of interest, such as funding, education and building a larger talent pool.”
“My priority is to bring together the Consortium to agree a strategic direction to ensure we meet and can support the current needs of the technology sector here in Fife. So much has changed over the last year, we need to ensure we remain relevant to encourage growth.”
The Fife Tech Consortium was established by Fife Council Economic Development’s Team, under the banner, InvestFife, in August 2019. It brings together several technology companies including: Ingenico, the global leader in seamless payment; global payment solutions company, Renovite Technologies; Rosyth-based Sainsbury’s Bank; subscriber intelligence provider Singula Decisions (formerly Paywizard); and Verifone, which provides a seamless payment experience with any payment method. The platform provides an opportunity to collaborate positively on common areas of interest such as funding, education and building a bigger talent pool to support growth in the sector in Fife.
Ann Camus, Enterprise & Business Development Manager at Fife Council, said:
“The Consortium represents a positive opportunity for local businesses to collaborate to encourage employment, qualifications and skills in the sector, and to avoid a potential skills gap. We welcome news of Jim Tomaney’s appointment as Chair, who brings much experience, and can support the industry and its needs, during this vital time.”
