EY has appointed a new Associate Partner, Alan Maudsley, to lead a dedicated team in Scotland that will be focused on working with private-mid market (PMM) clients.
Alan was previously Head of Corporate Development at Barclays and is well connected in the local business community, bringing extensive knowledge of the Scottish business landscape and experience of working with a wide range of fast growth companies across different sectors.
Alan will be leading an experienced team from across EY including Adam Broatch, Ashleigh Mackay, Nicola Pidgeon, and Richard Rainey.
Alan’s appointment and the creation of the PMM team is the latest investment in EY’s Scotland business and follows a recent announcement that EY will be seeking to boost its Scottish headcount by 25% over the coming year to meet ambitious growth plans.
According to Businesses in Scotland, an official statistics publication, Scotland now has a higher rate of medium and large private enterprise businesses compared to the UK as a whole, and the number of private sector employers is at its highest level.
Alan said: “The introduction of EY’s PMM team provides clients with a dedicated cross-discipline team, drawing on knowledge and skills from across our business.
“EY has a strong track record of working with Scotland’s mid-market corporates, particularly through programmes such as EY Entrepreneur Of The Year. EY has also developed tools such as Growth Navigator and EY Absolute to help companies with their growth strategies and automate complex business analytics.
“Our new dedicated team in Scotland is designed to originate conversations and bring solutions to life for the business community and work in a way that makes life easier for them. I’m really excited about being able to draw on my network and the knowledge and innovation of a global firm to help Scotland’s mid-market businesses.
“It’s an exciting time to join EY and I look forward to building this team into a successful model that will be rolled out across other EY regions.
“Be it a private-equity backed enterprise, owner-managed or family-run business, EY has many services, tools and initiatives that are directly relevant to Scotland’s PMM sector. It’s the job of our new team to bring these, along with the firm’s knowledge and expertise, to both existing and prospective clients.”
EY’s Scotland Managing Partner, Ally Scott, said: “We know the unique nature of Scotland’s business landscape and so have created the PMM hub to help clients access the right services for them.
“Scotland’s PMM businesses require a tailored approach with a single local point of contact who can build trust and a deep knowledge of the company. Our PMM team is designed to bring relevant services to clients to help support their growth, compliance with industry regulations, or increase productivity.
“Alan’s appointment and the creation of the PMM team is part of EY’s ongoing investment to grow our Scottish workforce and deliver on our ambitious growth plans. The aim is to ensure our clients feel the benefits of a dedicated local resource who can tap into a truly global network.”
