A COLLABORATION between Perth’s Mi Rewards and local businesses aims to drive local and loyal shopping in the city.

Re-launching in Perth following a major update, Mi Rewards is a first of its kind loyalty platform, giving users the chance to earn points for shopping local, which they can spend on exclusive offers from local businesses.

Perth Distillery, Highland Fling, Willows, Stagecoach, McCash’s Country Store and Cullach Brewing are some of the businesses with offers available on the new Mi Rewards platform in Perth.

Free to join and available both online and through an app, Mi Rewards users can enjoy a 2 for 1 gin tasting session at Perth Distillery for 200 points, 20% off a bungee jump with Highland Fling for 160 points, £15 off afternoon tea at Willows for 150 points, and 2 for 1 pizza Cullach Brewing for 125 points among the launch offers.

For 100 points, Mi Rewards users can claim 10% off a sack of pet food at McCash’s. And for 50 points Mi Rewards users can explore the area with a Stagecoach Day Rider ticket for £1 (usually £11).

The loyalty platform is powered by Perth based fintech Miconex alongside loyalty solution firm Stampfeet. Miconex also delivers the Town & City Gift Card initiative in Perth and across the world, with 200 programmes globally. Mi Rewards users will also be able to spend points for up to 50% savings on a Perth Gift Card.

Iain McDonald is the co-founder of Perth Distillery who are offering a 2 for 1 Perth Gin tasting experience through Mi Rewards and free label personalisation on a bottle of gin. Iain said:

“The distillery has a fantastic location under the Royal George Hotel in Tay Street, an abandoned stables from the 18th century with beautiful cobbled stones. The stables once provided accommodation for Queen Victoria’s horses when she stayed at the hotel.

“Each Perth Gin tasting experience starts with a champagne cocktail, a bit about the history of the location and even a bit about smuggling in Perth, tasting all of our gins, and finishing with a perfect Perth G&T. Perth Gin embodies the Spirit of Perth in the Heart of Scotland. The tasting session couldn’t be in a better, more atmospheric location.

“Our new state of the art printing facilities now allow us to provide high quality industry leading personalisation to our bottles of Perth Gin. The free label personalisation on a bottle of Perth Gin through Mi Rewards is a fantastic offer and would make a brilliant gift for a special occasion.

“I think the move towards exclusive offers from local businesses through Mi Rewards is a fantastic opportunity. A loyalty programme has to have value for the customer and for the business too. It’s absolutely paramount for businesses in Perth to encourage new customers through the door as well as retaining existing customers, and an attractive offer will give customers the incentive they need to give you a go.

“With the 2 years we lost due to the pandemic, Perth Distillery is still one of the best kept secrets in Perth and with Mi Rewards’ help, we hope more people will discover us!”

A key feature of the Mi Rewards programme is that it works through users’ regular payment cards, awarding points as the cards are used with over 70 registered businesses in Perth, including Provender Brown, Cafe Tabou, Perth Theatre, Precious Sparkle and Willowgate Activity Centre.

Billed as ‘the frequent shopper loyalty programme’, the Mi Rewards initiative will also allow users to earn badges as they shop, levelling up to ‘Local Hero’ status.

Colin Munro is the managing director of Miconex and said: “We’re excited to launch the new and improved Mi Rewards, giving users a front row seat to the best offers in the city. With Mi Rewards 2.0 we’ve kept the friction-free element and added upgrades that tap into what customers and businesses want from a loyalty programme.

“For customers, the gratification of earning points for shopping local ready to spend on exclusive local offers brings a tangible sense of reward for local shopping, while the gamification aspect of earning badges brings the fun. For businesses, their objective is bringing new customers through the door, and that’s exactly what Mi Rewards does. It’s also free for businesses and can work alongside any other loyalty programme they’re running.”

“By collaborating with Perth businesses, we’ve been able to come up with some fantastic, exclusive offers that Perth residents can enjoy as a reward for shopping local in our city. With Easter approaching, there are some fun activities and things to do on Mi Rewards, as well as money off gifts and practical items too.”

People can sign up for Mi Rewards free.
