In a significant move to bolster its footprint across Scotland’s Central Belt, EQ Accountants has merged with Edinburgh-based McDonald Gordon & Co. This marks EQ’s third acquisition in the past year and aligns with its ambitious strategy to triple turnover from £11 million to £30 million within four years.

Established in 1980, McDonald Gordon & Co has built a strong reputation for supporting family-owned and SME businesses. The 15-strong team, led by directors Raymond Paterson and Brian Duffy, brings decades of experience and a loyal client base to EQ.

Craig Nicol, CEO of EQ Accountants, commented: “Bringing McDonald Gordon & Co into EQ is a considered and strategic move that reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting Scotland’s SME sector. Their long-standing reputation, loyal client base, and shared values make them an ideal fit.”

This merger follows EQ’s recent integration with Douglas Home & Co, further expanding its reach and resources. With these strategic partnerships, EQ continues to strengthen its position as a leading adviser to the SME sector across Scotland.
