The Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) has won the best Business Event title at the Scottish Thistle Awards, winning the ‘Best Business Event Award’ jointly with the Association of Cardiovascular Nursing & Allied Professions (ACNAP) for the ACNAP Congress In Edinburgh last year.
The conference, themed ‘Putting our Hearts into Patient Care’, reflected ACNAP’s desire to highlight scientific practice while focusing on patients and the public. Working closely with Professor Lis Neubeck, Head of the Centre for Cardiovascular Health at Edinburgh Napier University, and the ACNAP team, the conference aimed to raise awareness of heart health and create a forum to discuss crucial policy changes needed.
Lis Neubeck said: “In close alignment with the EICC, we were able to create a legacy from the conference, with a focus on increasing public awareness of the importance of heart health through a series of impactful activities in the local community.”
Marshall Dallas, EICC CEO, said: “Central to everything we do here at EICC is our vision to create an environment which inspires ideas that change the world. ACNAP certainly comes into this category when you think about how prevalent cardiovascular health is worldwide. Playing a part in the societal impact around a conference like ACNAP’s 2023 Congress, and for that to be recognised by the industry, gives our team a great deal of pride.”
ACNAP is the largest international organisation for nurses and allied professionals working in cardiology and represents the interests of its members in both clinical practice and research.
This year’s Scottish Thistle Awards National Final took place at the Hilton Glasgow on Thursday 21st November. The annual awards ceremony is delivered by VisitScotland to celebrate the best of the tourism and events industry.
