EDINBURGH is to play host to the Global Open Finance Summit, an annual event bringing together some of the leading names and regulators in banking and finance from all over the world.

The summit, organised by the Financial Data and Technology Association (FDATA) will take place in the city’s iconic McEwan Hall on 4th and 5th December.

FDATA is a trade association which works directly with government, regulatory authorities and financial industry stakeholders in its mission to open up the world’s financial sector to the benefits of financial data and technology.

The two day summit will cover issues such as customer data right, consent and global standards.

FDATA Global Chairman Gavin Littlejohn said: “Open Finance presents a unique opportunity to ensure that consumers and businesses across the world are empowered with the right to share their financial data with regulated actors of their choosing. As a sector, we have a responsibility to ensure that the qualities of this newly emerging ecosystem put the customer’s needs first, and that technical standards, ethical standards and regulatory environments emerge to ensure that this is always the case.

“The Annual FDATA Global Open Finance Summit brings together key regulators, policy makers, technical standards groups and financial sector industry leaders from around the world to discuss and debate the delivery of open finance.

“The agenda for the Summit in Edinburgh has again attracted a line-up of the most influential speakers in the world with deep expertise in this domain. Our aim is to promote alignment and sharing of best practise, whilst reducing complexity, risk and costs.

“We also look forward to updating participants on the significant progress being made in the establishment of the Global Open Finance Centre of Excellence.”

The Edinburgh summit will also include the Open Finance Awards which have been created to recognise excellence in providing innovative financial applications and services to empower customers to make better decisions and take fuller control of their financial lives. The Awards dinner will take place in the National Museum of Scotland.
