DLA Piper, a leading global law firm, is thrilled to announce its sponsorship and hosting of the legal symposium at the inaugural Space-Comm Expo Scotland.

The event will take place on 11 September at 2.00pm at Glasgow’s SEC.

The symposium will feature dynamic discussions led by a panel of distinguished industry experts. They will delve into various legal and commercial landscapes related to the space sector, touching upon topics such as regulation, financing space projects, AI, data, cybersecurity in space, and the intersection of space commercialisation and sustainability.

The event offers attendees a unique opportunity to hear firsthand from and engage with legal experts working in the space sector, providing a platform to seek answers to pressing questions about the legalities of space exploration and commercialisation.

This is a great opportunity for in-house lawyers and businesses in the space industry, especially start-ups without current access to legal counsel.

The panel will feature esteemed speakers, including a keynote address from Alderman Professor Emma Edhem, the Lord Mayor’s Aldermanic Envoy for Space Technology and Innovation, Colin MacLeod, Head of UK Space Regulation at the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Fiona Stone, Head of Space CNI at the UK Space Agency, and Ray Fielding, Head of Sustainability & ADR at the UK Space Agency.

Additional speakers include representatives from the University of Strathclyde, Aerospace Centre of Excellence, Citicourt & Co., Institute on AI for Space Sustainability, Niparo, Astroscale, City of London Corporation, Safespy Limited, Goonhilly Earth Station Limited, Orbex, and DLA Piper.

Naomi Pryde, Global Co-Chair of DLA Piper’s Space Exploration and Innovation practice expressed her excitement, stating, “Sponsoring the legal symposium at Space-Comm’s first Scotland event is a real privilege.

“With the space sector observing significant growth and innovation, we’re thrilled to bring esteemed industry speakers to answer the most pressing of questions.

“Our multi-disciplinary global Space Exploration and Innovation team tackle issues across all needs, giving our clients the right minds at the right time and translating legal complexities into commercial clarity.

“During this symposium, we encourage the audience to share concerns keeping them awake at night, so we can address those and provide valuable insights and key take-aways”.

DLA Piper’s Space Law Symposium promises to be an inspiring event for those interested in the legal challenges and opportunities in the rapidly growing space industry.
