Dentons, the world’s largest global law firm, is pleased to announce the launch of its new Business Services Apprenticeship Programme in the firm’s Scottish offices, commencing in September 2025.

This initiative follows the success of Dentons’ Solicitor Apprenticeship Programme in London and Milton Keynes and underscores the firm’s commitment to increasing access to careers in the legal industry.

The programme will initially welcome two apprentices, with plans to expand in future years. One Apprentice will join the Glasgow Finance team and the other will join the Innovation team in either the firm’s Glasgow or Edinburgh office.

Over the course of four years, these apprentices will integrate academic learning with real-world professional experience, as they work towards completing their degrees in relevant disciplines.

Programme Highlights:

  • Comprehensive Experience: Apprentices will gain extensive practical, technical, and professional knowledge, working alongside a diverse team of top tier Business Services professionals in their respective fields and making an impact on the work of one of the world’s largest global law firms.
  • Academic Integration: The programme is designed to allow apprentices to pursue a  university degree while contributing to the dynamic work of Dentons’ Business Services teams, ensuring a balanced approach to education and career development, without the burden of student debt.
  • Team Assignments:
  • The Finance Apprentice will assist with running the financial operations of a global law firm, earning a Master’s degree in Accountancy and a professional accountancy qualification by the end of the programme.
  • The Innovation Apprentice will be introduced to the application of data science and AI technologies in a legal context, contributing to the development of solutions that transform the delivery of legal services. Upon completion of the programme, they will have achieved a degree in Data Science.

Building on the success of our UK Solicitor Apprenticeship, which was a trailblazer in the legal market and has grown to a cohort of over 20 apprentices, this new programme reflects Dentons’ dedication to fostering a diverse and skilled workforce.

By providing alternative career pathways, Dentons aims to make the legal and business services professions more accessible to everyone.

Claire Armstrong, Managing Partner for Dentons Scotland said: “We are thrilled to launch this apprenticeship programme in our Scottish offices. By integrating academic studies with hands-on experience, we are investing in the future of our firm and the broader legal industry.”

Darran Stevenson, Chief Financial Officer for Dentons UK, Ireland and Middle East (UKIME) region said: “Dentons is a long-time supporter of creating alternate pathways into law, from early adoption of the Solicitor Apprenticeship programme to recruiting our first non-legal apprentice into our Tax team last year. We are excited to expand these opportunities further, creating new roles in key professional disciplines such as Finance and Innovation.”
