Visitors to Potatoes in Practice 2026, who are members of BASIS or NroSO, can enhance their professional development and earn up to six CPD points at the event on Thursday 13th August.
An interactive knowledge trail, designed to engage visitors while reinforcing key agronomic insights, will run across a number of participating exhibitors stands. There will be ten questions per exhibitor, each focused on the technical and practical information on display.
This hands-on approach encourages participants to deepen their understanding of current innovations, research and best practices within the potato sector.
Potatoes in Practice, hosted by The James Hutton Institute through the National Potato Innovation Centre (NPIC) in partnership with SRUC, is a key event for the entire industry.
NPIC, one of several crop centres developed by the Hutton, is a partnership dedicated to delivering scientific solutions to the challenges facing the potato industry.
Professor Ian Toth, Director of NPIC, highlights the significance of the CPD initiative: “Potatoes in Practice is designed not only to showcase innovation, but also to equip professionals with the expertise they need to drive the industry forward.
“By combining the knowledge trail with seminars, demonstrations and expert-led discussions, the event offers a comprehensive learning experience that will help to drive the industry forward.”
Both BASIS and NRoSO play a crucial role in supporting professional development within agriculture.
BASIS, a charitable organisation founded by the pesticide industry in 1978, is dedicated to raising professional standards in land management and food production. It provides a range of qualifications, professional registers and auditing schemes that support individuals and businesses alike.
NRoSO (National Register of Sprayer Operators) was formed in 2003 and has evolved to offer many benefits to its members, including training events, up to date industry information, technical updates and networking opportunities.
