Construction has now begun on a major regeneration project at French Street in Dalmarnock, set to deliver 173 new homes and strengthen the housing supply in Glasgow’s East End during a critical time.
The initiative is being delivered by Thenue Housing and CCG (Scotland) with Clyde Gateway. Councillor Ruairi Kelly highlighted that the scheme “will bring so many high-quality new homes for sale and rent to an area which has benefited so much from regeneration in recent years.”
Homes will range from one to four bedrooms, addressing the needs of a broad mix of people and families.
Located just two miles from the city centre, the French Street development is “a key component of the South Dalmarnock Sustainable Development Plan,” designed to reinstate historic street patterns and deliver a “vibrant new neighbourhood that is both well-connected and rich in character.”
The project promises energy efficiency, including advanced building methods and a district heating system, as well as fully wheelchair-adapted affordable homes. Alongside housing, the 18-month build aims to generate local jobs and training opportunities.

Eleanor Derbyshire of Thenue Housing said the project “reflects our ongoing commitment to the communities we serve.” Calum Murray of CCG (Scotland) added that French Street will provide “much-needed housing choice and affordability while creating a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can thrive.”
The development is the largest housing approval in Glasgow City Council’s 2024/25 cycle and is scheduled to complete in 2027.
