More than 30 local groups and organisations have been boosted by grants teed up by Royal Dornoch’s Community Fund.
Beneficiaries gathered at the club to acknowledge the support the golf club provides to a wide range of projects within the area.
Club captain Gary Bethune said grants in the £250-£500 range totalling £11,000 had been paid out this year.
In addition, the club’s annual lease of £50,000 for the historic common good land is paid directly into the Dornoch Common Good Fund to be used in and around the area.
“I was born and brought up in the town, so I know how valuable these grants are to all manner of local groups, particularly when funding from many other sources has been drying up,” said retired dentist Gary.
“The range of applications the club received underlines the key role played by volunteer driven groups and we are fortunate to have so many people committed to enhancing the quality of life in the Dornoch and Embo area.”
The local education sector is being supported with several grants approved, including new much needed goalposts earmarked for the school teams and plants and gardening equipment.
Specialist training for the East Sutherland Rescue Association crew is also being assisted.
