DUMFRIES and Galloway College Principal Joanna Campbell has congratulated former student and Olympic silver medal winner Ross Whyte for his success at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Ross brought home a silver medal following a semi-final win against the United States and a hard-fought match against Sweden in the final.

The two-time European champion studied Higher National Diploma Fitness, Health, and Exercise at the South of Scotland College between 2016-2018.

An all-round sportsman, Ross also played golf for the South of Scotland under-18 team and was introduced to curling through a school programme. He first took to the ice aged six years old and has been passionate about curling ever since.

Principal Joanna Campbell said: “All of us at Dumfries and Galloway College were rooting for Ross and his teammates and we’re delighted to congratulate them on their success. Dumfries and Galloway College is incredibly proud of Ross, and his Team GB teammates, for the drive, determination, and tenacity they have shown and wishes them every success in the future.”

“An Olympic silver medal is an incredible achievement and we’re sure it won’t be the last in what has already been a spectacular career in sport for this gifted young athlete.

“As he continues into the future, Ross should know that his former college will be behind him every step of the way and that we think of him as an excellent example of what studying at Dumfries and Galloway College can help you achieve.”
