Global youth leadership programme launches in Scotland to boost confidence and soft skills among students
A world-renowned youth leadership and education initiative is launching in Scotland to help students develop the confidence and soft skills needed to thrive in the modern world.

Change the World Academy, known internationally for its flagship Model United Nations conferences, is expanding its work to Scottish schools and universities, offering students a platform to strengthen vital skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership and problem-solving.
Recognised by the United Nations Economic and Social Council, the programme has already empowered thousands of young people across global cities including New York, Rome, Paris and Dubai. Its move into Scotland aims to make world-class youth development more accessible for local pupils while connecting them to international opportunities.
“Every student deserves the chance to discover their own voice,” said Lisette Bellizzi, Scottish Ambassador for Change the World Academy. “We provide a safe, supportive environment where young people are encouraged to take risks, speak up, and grow into leaders. The skills they develop stay with them for life.”
Through interactive leadership simulations, workshops and conferences, students act as international delegates debating major global issues such as climate change, human rights and sustainable development. While the experience builds awareness of world affairs, organisers say its true value lies in the transformation students experience in their confidence and personal growth.
Teachers and parents involved in the programme have praised its lasting impact. One Aberdeen parent said their child returned “buzzing with ideas and excitement”, while a teacher added that pupils “came back ready to lead, volunteer and contribute in new ways.”
In Case You Missed It:
Bringing the programme to Scotland will allow more schools to participate without the cost of overseas travel, while also creating pathways for Scottish students to attend Change the World’s international events in future.
“Scotland’s strong educational tradition and community spirit make it the perfect home for Change the World,” said Bellizzi. “In a time when young people face complex challenges, programmes like this give them the tools to lead with confidence, empathy and vision.”
