IT’S BEEN a busy first month for the Caol Ruadh Sculpture Park at Colintraive despite the weather!

The venue, set within 18 acres of landscaped gardens overlooking the spectacular Kyles of Bute in Argyll, is playing host to an annual exhibition of 48 sculptures from 14 separate artists from across the UK and Scotland that runs until Sunday 3rd September.

Curator Karen Scotland commented: “The unpredictable weather hasn’t affected visitor numbers and we are seeing a healthy number of people, both locally based and tourists, visit the sculpture park and stroll around the gardens and artworks. Many people are returning having visited the park in past years.

“The sales of artworks and catalogues have been very encouraging and we recently ran a very well attended whittling workshop with Teresa Hunyadi. We are holding another workshop on Saturday 19th August in Mask Making with Moira Ferguson.

“Overall we couldn’t be more pleased with progress and that is reflected in many positive comments written in our visitor book. There are just four more weekends to go before we close but this is shaping up to be our best year ever, although a bit of sunshine wouldn’t go amiss!” added Karen.

The Sculpture Park will be open to the public Thursdays to Sundays from 11am to 6pm until the 3rd September. Entry is £5 for adults with a handout and map included.
