A Lanarkshire televisual services company has secured tenders with three local housing associations after the business owner accessed support and guidance from Business Gateway.

Televisual Services Glasgow, which provides satellite and aerial installations, as well as TV wall mounts and CCTV, has been accepted onto the joint framework for three housing associations – East Kilbride, Rutherglen & Cambuslang and West Whitlawburn – for the next five years.

The business has also won work with West Whitlawburn Housing Association and will continue on the framework for Clyde Valley Housing Association.

The business had already been covering remedial works with Cambuslang and Rutherglen since owner, Marco Nicholson, switched from operating as a sole trader to a limited company in 2020.

Marco has over 24 years of industry expertise, and has served a range of prominent clients, including John Lewis and Argos, as well as various housing associations and electrical contractors with telecommunications needs.

When the possibility of securing a four-year tender with East Kilbride Housing Association arose, Marco knew that this would be a rewarding opportunity for him and his team. He approached Business Gateway in need of some support on how to approach the application process.

Marco received one-to-one support from a dedicated business adviser, Debbie, who ensured Marco’s chances of a successful bid were maximised.

Through Business Gateway, Marco was referred to Judith Stewart, a procurement consultant from Tinto Procurement, who conducted a review of his initial tender application, which helped to uncover any gaps.

After accessing expert support, Marco and his team won the tender, and Televisual Services Glasgow is now on the Repairs & Maintenance and Voids Framework 2024 – 2028 for East Kilbride Housing Association.

Marco and his team will be working with wholesaler Eurosat Scotland Limited and suppliers Whyte Technologies throughout this work.

Thanks to the successful tender, Marco is going on to bid for additional housing association contracts with Business Gateway’s support.

With help from Skills Development Scotland, Marco is now looking to grow his team of three – which includes his wife – to hire additional employees and apprentices from the local area to keep up with demand.

Marco said: “The support from Business Gateway has been absolutely invaluable. From our first meeting to the final submission, Business Gateway really went over and above to ensure we stood the best possible chance of submitting a winning bid for the tender.

“Judith, the procurement consultant we worked with, really went that extra mile and we can’t thank her enough.”

Debbie Dawkins, Business Gateway adviser, said: “We are extremely proud of Marco and what he has accomplished for his team. Securing this tender will ensure a solid future for his business for years to come, and I look forward to seeing the business go on to win even more contracts in the future.”
