Glasgow city-centre shopping mall, Buchanan Galleries has announced a record-breaking amount of funding has been raised in support of its charity partner, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, thanks to the incredible generosity of its guests in December.

The centre, which launched a series of festive fundraising initiatives in collaboration with the charity, raised more than £75K, surpassing last year’s total by £17K.

The funds were generated through Buchanan Galleries introducing a Santa’s Grotto this year, created in partnership with Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, along with other heartwarming festive activities such as musical choir performances, a dedicated gift-wrapping service, and the charity’s pop-up Christmas shop within the centre.

Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity provides vital support to babies and children in Scotland’s largest children’s hospital, their families, and the dedicated NHS staff who care for them. Public donations help fund life-changing projects, essential services, and advanced medical equipment, ensuring children in Glasgow and beyond receive the life-saving treatment they need.

Celebrating a decade of supporting Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, Buchanan Galleries has announced the extension of their partnership through 2025. Since 2015, the collaboration has raised more than £402K, making a significant difference in the lives of those it serves.

William McGowan, Head of Partnerships & Business Development at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “The team at Buchanan Galleries have truly outdone themselves this Christmas to support children in hospital.

“Thanks to the incredible generosity of visitors to the centre and hundreds of hard-working volunteers, an absolutely phenomenal total has been raised. This outstanding contribution will make a real difference to our young patients, helping us to provide vital support for babies, children, and their families at Glasgow’s children’s hospital.”

Kathy Murdoch, Centre Director at Buchanan Galleries, said, “Once again, visitors at Buchanan Galleries have demonstrated remarkable warmth, kindness, and generosity toward this incredible charity, truly embodying the spirit of Glasgow.

“By breaking fundraising records for the second consecutive year and contributing an unprecedented amount to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity during the season of giving, together we have set an inspiring example of what can be achieved when a community comes together.

“This unwavering support not only highlights Glasgow’s deep-rooted compassion but also reinforces the city’s commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families in need. We’re looking forward to continuing our fundraising efforts for the charity throughout this new year.”

Buchanan Galleries has committed to host new initiatives and activities in 2025, with the aim to raise even more funds for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
