On Saturday, July 20th, the British Heart Foundation (BHF) hosted a lively Sports Day at Livingston Designer Outlet, drawing families and fitness enthusiasts alike for a day of fun-filled activities and competitions. The event, held by the grand staircase atrium, aimed to raise funds for the BHF’s ongoing mission to combat heart and circulatory diseases.
As visitors arrived, they were greeted by an array of engaging sporting events and challenges, suitable for all ages and skill levels. Participants enthusiastically took part in activities such as skipping, hula hooping, balloon keepie uppies, and basketball shooting. Each entry required a suggested donation of £2, with the top three performers in each event receiving prizes at the conclusion of the day’s activities.
“We are thrilled with the turnout and the community’s enthusiasm,” said a BHF spokesperson. “Events like these are crucial in helping us fund the research needed to keep hearts beating and improve the lives of those affected by heart and circulatory conditions.”
In addition to the sporting events, the day featured a raffle with an array of prizes including Lego sets, fragrances, books, and jigsaw puzzles. The excitement was palpable as attendees eagerly awaited the drawing, hoping to take home one of the coveted items.
The event wasn’t just for adults; children had their own set of activities to enjoy. A bustling colouring station and a talented face painter kept the young ones entertained, ensuring that the day was enjoyable for the entire family.
One participant, Jane Thompson, shared her experience: “It was a fantastic day out. My kids loved the balloon keepie uppies and the face painting, and it felt great knowing we were supporting such an important cause.”
All proceeds from the event will go directly to the British Heart Foundation, furthering their efforts to fund vital research and support those affected by heart and circulatory diseases.
The British Heart Foundation expressed gratitude to the participants, volunteers, and the Livingston Designer Outlet for making the day a success. Events like this not only provide a platform for raising awareness but also foster a sense of community and collective effort towards a healthier future.
