Family-owned Bacardi is bolstering its Scotch whisky production across Scotland, responding to the growing demand for premium Single Malt and Blended Scotch.

The company has completed several improvement projects at its Scottish facilities, including the addition of three new ageing warehouses at its Poniel blending and maturation centre near Glasgow.

These warehouses boast a more efficient design, increasing capacity by over 15% and creating new jobs.

At Aultmore Distillery in Speyside, a multi-million-pound expansion has enhanced efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

The distillery now employs Thermal Vapor Recompression technology to improve energy and water efficiency, and a new boiler has been installed with the capability to switch to hydrogen fuel in the future.

Macduff Distillery, home of THE DEVERON® Single Malt, has also seen significant improvements, including an overhaul of mashing equipment and the creation of a new air-conditioned control room, aimed at driving energy and water savings.

These investments demonstrate Bacardi’s commitment to the future of Scotch whisky production, balancing tradition with innovation and sustainability.

Keith Hogg, VP Supply Chain, Europe, Bacardi: “Our investment in Aultmore and Macduff distilleries and our Poniel blending and maturation centre is an important step in the bold plans we have for our premium and ultra-premium whiskies.

“We are so proud of the exceptional quality of our award-winning Scotch whiskies and are investing in its growth for the long-term.”
