AN iconic island hotel has unveiled the final stage of an extensive, multi-million-pound refurbishment, hot on the heels of winning the Best Country Hotel at the Prestige Hotel Awards.

The four-star Isle of Mull Hotel & Spa, which sits on Craignure Bay, has opened the doors to its brand-new ‘Wilderness Spa’, following the launch of Driftwood Spa last summer – marking the completion of a £1million investment in the hotel’s spa facilities, in addition to an initial £3million refurbishment of the wider Crerar Hotels property.

Extending the spa’s calming indoor environment, ‘Wilderness Spa’ is located on a secluded outdoor decking providing a private Thermal Experience for guests to enjoy amidst the wilderness of Mull.

This private spa retreat offers guests the chance to enjoy the outdoor hot tub, bucket shower and day beds, as well as the sauna – with guests receiving Dry Robes to cosy into during their experience.

Guests can book exclusive use of the ‘Wilderness Spa’, allowing hours of uninterrupted peace. Bespoke experiences can also be arranged, from dining under the stars for a romantic meal, or a private afternoon with locally inspired picnic hampers arranged and delivered by the hotel team.

A unique wilderness hut completes the new offering, where guests can go for shelter, to read and relax in the middle of nature or simply soak up the views and sounds of the island from the lookout window. The hut also makes a perfect lookout for when the Red Deer and other wildlife that frequents the hotel grounds wander by.

The outdoor getaway perfectly complements any treatments at Driftwood Spa – for a pre- or post-treatment experience – to ensure a one-of-a-kind coastal spa day or break.

John De Villiers, General Manager, said: “The Wilderness Spa concludes the investment and refurbishment of the Isle of Mull Hotel & Spa, which is perfect timing for the upcoming summer season.”

“We are proud to be able to offer a private sanctuary for those looking to drift away and truly relax and rejuvenate whilst staying with us.”

“Guests will be surrounded by nature whilst being able to admire the stunning views across Craignure Bay, before taking advantage of the new Thermal Experience and cosy snug. Its completion really cements our place as an idyllic, coastal spa retreat.”

Driftwood Spa, designed to reflect and complement the beauty of the island’s nature and wildlife, launched last year with four treatment rooms and brand-new Sea-View and Retreat Suites offering the ultimate luxury accommodation for a spa getaway.

Driftwood Spa also includes a 17m swimming pool, a thermal suite with sauna and steam room, a relaxing foot spa, experience showers and a Rasul mud chamber. The four treatment rooms include two couples’ rooms, one single and one seaweed bath.

The hotel also has a boardwalk which takes guests directly from the hotel to the private beach, only moments away.

In May, Isle of Mull Hotel & Spa was awarded the Best Country Hotel at the Prestige Hotel Awards in recognition of its stunning location on the Isle of Mull, surrounded by local wildlife, views of the waters and open spaces to explore.
