Marketplace lender Assetz Capital has bolstered its deal origination team in Scotland with the appointment of Lucie Martin as Relationship Director.

Originally from Australia, Lucie has held various positions at some of the biggest firms in the country such as National Australia Bank, BNP Paribas and Westpac. Before joining Assetz, Lucie held the position of Head of Origination for Scotland and North East England for Allied Irish Bank. Prior to this, Lucie also worked for CYBG and TSB Bank in various credit risk roles.

In her new role at Assetz Capital, Lucie will be responsible for deal origination in Scotland with a particular focus on lending in the care home sector. She will work with brokers and intermediaries to provide property developers and businesses with commercial mortgages, development finance loans, bridging finance and property investment finance. In addition to this, Lucie will be aiming to expand Assetz Capital’s reach for introduced business from the professional services sector.

Since establishing in 2013, Assetz Capital has lent more than £915m to UK SMEs, funding projects such as commercial properties, housing developments, care homes and purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA). In the last year, the marketplace lender has funded new housing projects representing the equivalent of 1 in every 100 new homes built.

On her appointment, Lucie said: “It’s a great time to be joining the Assetz team in Scotland. It is well-known to developers that Scotland needs more homes, so it is important that lenders such as ourselves are providing the capital they require to help meet this demand for new houses. With a strong background in credit and real estate investment, I believe my knowledge of the market will prove valuable as we seek out more investment opportunities across the country.”

John Hewitt, Regional Director, UK – North at Assetz Capital said: “Over the last year, we have expanded our team of Relationship Directors in order to meet Scotland’s appetite for alternative finance products. Lucie’s experience and knowledge of the market makes her another excellent addition to the team, and we’re looking forward to helping more ambitious businesses and property developers access the funding they need to execute their plans.”
