Martin Johnston has joined Armstrong Watson LLP, Accountants, Business and Financial Advisers’ Glasgow team as Audit and Assurance Director

Martin Johnston has joined Armstrong Watson LLP, Accountants, Business and Financial Advisers’ Glasgow team as Audit and Assurance Director.

Martin was latterly a senior manager at KPMG, having previously worked for both EY and PKF (now part of BDO) earlier in his career.  He has extensive experience of managing a diverse, and often complex, portfolio of clients across a wide range of sectors including retail, telecommunications, manufacturing, construction and power and utilities, and is expected to play a pivotal role within the Scottish audit team.

Commenting on his appointment, Martin Johnston said,

“This is a very exciting time to be joining a firm with genuine ambition and growth plans. I am thrilled and passionate about playing a key role in developing the brand in Glasgow and the wider Scottish market.  Furthermore, I am extremely motivated by the opportunity to work with dynamic entrepreneurial businesses and really add value to their operations beyond providing a statutory audit.”

Richard Gibson, Armstrong Watson Glasgow’s Lead Partner commented,

“It is fantastic to have someone of Martin’s experience join the Glasgow office and our Scottish Audit and Assurance team.  With a strong reputation for helping owner-managed, entrepreneurial businesses, Martin is well placed to ensure clients meet both their statutory requirements and also help prepare and support them for their next big event, be it expansion, investment, refinancing or a sale transaction.

“Martin’s addition to our Blythswood Square team is part of our continued expansion within the Scottish market and complements the strong presence we continue to build upon within the city.  Martin has demonstrated he holds the same clear principles we value as a firm, embracing our commitment to assist regional businesses and to help facilitate profitable growth.”

Martin’s appointment continues Armstrong Watson’s investment in their Audit and Assurance services and is one of a number of senior appointments in recent months.

Paul Dickson, Armstrong Watson CEO and Managing Partner added,

“I am very pleased to have someone of Martin’s experience join Armstrong Watson to lead our Audit and Assurance proposition in Glasgow.  With the turmoil in the Audit sector, there is a real opportunity for Armstrong Watson to continue to grow as we win clients from larger firms and as clients grow and need the advice and services that Armstrong Watson has to offer.”
