Leading innovation incentives adviser, ForrestBrown, has today announced the promotion of Angela Banerjee ATT to Associate Director in recognition of her role in successfully developing a Patent Box relief service for clients.

After joining ForrestBrown’s Scotland office as a Senior Tax Manager in 2022, Angela has helped innovative businesses across the UK benefit from Patent Box relief. The Patent Box regime encourages companies to commercialise their intellectual property by providing a reduction in Corporation Tax on profits earned from patented inventions.

As Patent Box profits must be linked to R&D expenditure, ForrestBrown leverages over a decade of experience as the UK’s leading R&D tax relief adviser for their clients. Angela and the team work closely with clients to establish their R&D and Patent Box eligibility, tracking and tracing expenditure against relevant intellectual property (IP) income streams to calculate the potential benefits for businesses.

Angela’s promotion signals ForrestBrown’s continued commitment to growing its presence in Scotland, where Angela forms part of a team of tax specialists. In addition, recruitment is currently underway for business development roles based out of ForrestBrown’s office in Glasgow.

Sara Brigden, Managing Director at ForrestBrown, said:

“Since joining ForrestBrown, Angela has been a passionate advocate for Patent Box, cutting through perceptions of complexity to make it accessible to more innovative businesses. She’s played a key role in shaping or approach to this valuable innovation incentive, building on our strong track record delivering R&D tax relief benefits for our clients.”

Angela Banerjee, Associate Director at ForrestBrown, added:

“It’s been exciting to be part of the Patent Box team at a time when ForrestBrown is extending its services across the wider innovation toolkit, including government grants and capital allowances.

“Patent Box remains an untapped opportunity for many businesses and we’re well placed to help them access this valuable tax saving.”
